“…I’m the father of five, but I only got to raise three of them.”
For many, Father’s Day, viewed through life’s rear-view mirror, was a day of joy, sticky hugs, and maybe yet another new tie.
However, for others, there was a nagging sense of incompleteness, loss, guilt. These feelings can be just in the background or so very much in the foreground as to be incapacitating. Imagine trying not to let your profound inner sadness spoil the day for your family.
Abortion kills babies. And it harms women and men and family members near and far.
Save the Storks is a pro-life group that tries to save all the victims by helping pregnant women find a life-giving path. Their newest project kicks off with an initial video of four men describing how abortion affected them.
One man said, “It didn’t just mess me up, it messed her up as well. Mentally and emotionally. We both started drinking heavily… and using drugs.”
“It was too easy. It was too quick,” said another. “I wish that someone had been out in front of that Planned Parenthood willing to just offer information and alternatives. I wish that there had been opportunities to know about other choices.”
The men in the video speak through their pain in hopes that someone else won’t repeat their mistakes. Save the Storks invites other men to view the video and then contribute their own stories as well in the social media.
A third man had been adamant that his girlfriend have an abortion, was even about to offer to pay for it, when something happened in his mind. Somehow, everything changed, an epiphany he called it. He phoned his girlfriend, pledging his support of her and their child. He says, “Now my son is eight years old, and he completely changed my life. I’m so glad I didn’t choose free will and make that mistake.”
