(Bath, NY) – Give your kids five exciting days this summer of learning and growing in the performing arts!
Family Life’s Youtheatre program is holding a series of drama workshops to help young people, ages 8-15, explore their artistic talents in acting, singing and dancing. With the help of trained drama instructors, students will develop theatrical skills, learn important Bible lessons, and make great friends in an encouraging environment.
“This program is so much fun for kids, and our instructors too,” says Peter Maier, the performing arts director at Family Life. “We get to bring the gospel to students while helping them discover their gifts. It’s a special thing to see a child recognize their God-given talents and learn how to honor Him with those gifts.”
This summer, students will perform “Danny & The Shacks” – a musical production for friends and family held on the last day of the workshop. Admission is free.
The show recounts the adventures of the prophet Daniel – ‘Danny’ as he’s called in this 21st century version of the story. “It’s written in a way that kids will really get into,” says Maier.
Danny and his friends, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, are in a band, “Danny & the Shacks.” They embark on a roller-coaster-thrill-ride of experiences as they encounter King Neb, his golden statue, some crazy Babylonians, the fiery furnace, and of course, the infamous lion’s den.
“The truth of God’s Word and the importance of being obedient and faithful to His teaching comes through loud and clear,” says Maier. “These are important lessons. What better way to instill them in young kids than through a fun, creative experience.”
