By Bishop David J. Singleton
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2. For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;” (1 Timothy 2L1-3 KJV) This could be another translation if you like.
Now, more than ever, we who are part of the Body of Christ needs to heed these words and invite God to move into Rochester, Monroe County, New York, and the rest of America. If you missed the National Day of Prayer Initiative in 2017, you missed witnessing the movement of God’s power in downtown Rochester. People came from all around our greater community, as well as from other cities and areas, including Ohio. We are expecting nothing less this year. In fact, we are expecting God will manifest his power more than ever.
On Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:15 AM, elected and appointed officials, pastors and a wide cross section of the Body of Christ, will gather in downtown Rochester to cross denominational, ethnic, and geographical lines to petition the Father as one in Jesus’ name. We plan to gather in front of City Hall with the Mayor, County Executive, clergy, business leaders, and community members, and make an unbroken prayer chain around our governmental centers (City Hall and County Office Building). To help us determine we have enough people to accomplish this God-honoring plan, we ask that you register at www.prayerinitiative.org or call 585-340-7027.
In 2012, a local television news report stated Rochester, NY was one of the least religious cities in the nation. Whether that was true or not, I’m not sure. But I know that does not have to be our story. Therefore, we are asking every believer in Christ Jesus to join in faith as we invoke the power of Almighty God with petitions for healing and revival in our area and nation.
A launch team will help with prayer, planning, and execution of this noteworthy event. We invite you to join the team. Some areas of service include intercession, marketing, graphic design, correspondence, data entry, social media, photography/videography. If you wish to join the launch team, call the number above or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
