Nearly every church has a sound system. Some are fairly simple. Some have complex lighting and video systems requiring several operators for each service. Some have worship leaders who direct musicians and bands that play on Sunday mornings. Some churches have drama teams or youth bands.
There’s one thing that all these churches will have in common. They all have hard working people, some acting as professional Worship or Media Pastors, some volunteering, that run these technical systems. And those dedicated folks need training regularly to keep up with the changing technologies and to practice the skills needed to make their services run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Journey Christian Church is hosting a special two day training seminar for church technology professionals and volunteers. It will be held from 6:00-9:00 PM on Friday, September 22nd, and 9:00 AM-5:00 PM on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 at 3955 Mount Read Blvd in Rochester.
The cost of the entire seminar weekend is only $27, and group rates are available. Send your whole worship and technical team!
The weekend will start off with a night of worship and training with nationally known audio expert Doug Gould and his wife Sheri, who will be leading the weekend’s vocal training sessions.
Doug Gould is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on worship sound and music technology, and has spent a lifetime reaching out to worship leaders, musicians and techs across the United States and abroad. Doug travels extensively to help worship teams improve their skills and relationships through seminars, workshops and conferences, and we’re pleased he’s chosen Journey as one of his seminar sites.
Sheri Gould is a graduate of the University of Illinois, and has taught voice privately for over 35 years. She has been a worship leader and music director in various local churches since 1986. She was the director of Good News Productions, an evangelistic outreach involving singing, drama, dance and original musicals for 13 years. She now writes for Worship Musician! Magazine and tours the country with her husband teaching and equipping the Body of Christ for music ministry. A home-schooling mom since 1985, she and her husband Doug reside in New Jersey where she is now home-schooling the last of their eight children.
Other presenters offering training during the weekend include:

Bob Puff was born and raised in Rochester, NY, and is the founder and owner of New Life Electronics, an audio consulting, rental, and contracting company (celebrating its 25th anniversary!). His love for electronics and audio started very early, working with churches and various recording projects. High school and college days saw an expansion into computers and hardware design. He later saw these fields combine in the computer-aided modeling of room acoustics and speaker design (starting in the MSDOS days), and once again in his most recent project, the digital mixing system AMP (Audio Mixing Platform).
Bob has been blessed with the opportunity to work and network with many of the greats of our time, both musicians, audio consultants, and instructors, and has been able to glean much wisdom and experience from being on both sides of the recording studio and performance stage. Bob plays bass guitar and keys, and serves in both audio and music in multiple local churches.
