Peniel Bible Conference: You’ll “Fall” For Their Autumn And Winter Activities

Peniel Bible Conference

By Pat Shea

During the summer, like many other Christian camps, Peniel Bible Conference, which has been in existence for over 80 years, offers middle school, teen and family camp activities and events such as BBQs, lifeguard training, Bible study, fundraisers and painting and crafting classes. But as the majority of youth camps and retreat houses clean up, clear out and close up once the fall season arrives, Peniel Bible Conference continues to thrive, offering new and interesting opportunities to encourage Christian values, fellowship and just plain family fun.

The location, always ideal for summer camp fun, is also the perfect backdrop for numerous fall and winter activities. The campus is located in Lake Luzerne, New York, on a mountain hillside within Adirondack State Park, just a short drive from Lake George, New York. With over 75 acres of stunning grounds, attendees can marvel at the fall colors and partake of activities such as canoeing, boating, hiking on nature trails, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. For the more adventurous, attendees can find white water rafting, horseback riding or even catch a rodeo show in early September within the local area.

Events are always plentiful and although the facilities are often rented for weddings, showers, reunions, meetings, luncheons, parties or retreats, there is a quiet serenity that engulfs the area, providing the perfect opportunity for those wishing to spend time in prayer.

The campus offers multiple lodging options, including a motel with four units, a lodge with room for 75 people at one time, numerous rustic cabins with bath houses nearby, a meeting house for small gatherings with a seating capacity of 72, a chapel, a restaurant that can seat up to 58 for small events, a dining hall for catered events with a seating capacity of 120 (to dine) or 220 (for seated meetings).

Once fall gives way to winter, the organization hosts many snow-themed activities including SnoFun Overnight Camp for elementary, middle school and high school students which is scheduled during the February break for local schools. Activities during SnoFun include snow tubing, sledding, winter games and team challenges, worship and biblical teaching. Meals are prepared and lodging provided.

The organization also continues to host its popular men’s, women’s and youth bible study programs, as well as crafting events, fundraisers, prayer council meetings, concerts,  marriage retreats, and of course, weddings, throughout the fall and winter months. Those who attend these events feel welcomed, especially given the organization’s belief that it is called to help encourage and strengthen Christian beliefs, especially in regards to Christian couples, families and youth. The organization also helps pastors in their effort to motivate and educate their church and help equip lay leaders for effective ministry. This is done through fellowship of course, but also through group and individual counseling, corporate and family worship, prayer and reflection and motivating and celebratory events, including fundraisers, all year round. Presently the organization is working hard to raise money to replace the stoves throughout the camp, starting with the stove within the restaurant. Many fun-fundraisers will be planned for the months to come.

Peniel’s Bible Conference’s mission is grounded in the “glory, holiness, love and grace of the one True God,” and its goal as an organization is “to share and teach biblical truths that encourage a well-rounded Christian experience.” The leadership at Peniel believes people are called to “be loving agents of reconciliation and peace in the church and in the world,” and that there is a “role of Scripture and Spirit-led prayer to promote personal growth and fruitful walk with God.” The organization also believes in fellowship with the Holy Spirit who “helps, guides, and comforts us.”

Whatever the season, spring, summer winter or fall, Peniel Bible Conference is a great choice for communing with nature, getting closer to God, or just the perfect place to go and have fun and meet some pretty amazing people.
