By Marguerite Hoyt, Parent of 4th Grader at Destiny Christian School
As Christian parents, we have been entrusted with an awesome gift and responsibility when the Lord gives us children. The Word of God has a lot to say about parenting. Psalm 127:3 tells us that “children are a gift of the LORD; the fruit of the womb is a reward.”
The verse that has guided us to send our son to Destiny School and Preschool for the last five years is from the book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 6:7. In speaking of His word the Lord tells us what he wants us to do as parents; “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (NKJV)
We raise our son in a home filled with the word of God, Prayer, and worship. We send him to Destiny School because we know that he is being filled with the word of God all through the day.
The day at Destiny starts with worship, Bible, and prayer. Prayer is something that goes on at any given time in a classroom. The curriculum is Bible based so we as parents do not have to “un-teach” anything after school. Children are learning from the Christian world view. Teachers at Destiny school are qualified professionals who are all Christians. This is very important to us as we live in a world where many people are actually hostile to the Gospel. At Destiny, the teachers love and serve Jesus. They are passionate about imparting the Gospel to each child while academic learning is occurring. They are also aware that the child they are entrusted with belongs to the Lord, and the teachers take that very seriously.
At Destiny, children are learning apologetics. It is so important that our children know what they believe and why they believe it. Apologetics is a crucial part of Destiny’s mission. This upcoming year is going to be an exciting year at Destiny as the classical model of education will be implemented. The Classical model encourages true learning, deep thinking, and the ability to express oneself with excellence.
Parents, our children are indeed gifts from the Lord. I encourage you to think about where your child spends seven hours a day and ask yourselves if the Lord is pleased. Our Children need to be well equipped Christians with firm foundations. If you are looking for an academically excellent, Spirit Filled, Christ-centered education for your child, call Destiny School and Preschool, schedule a tour, and get ready to see what great things the Lord is doing here at Destiny!
